Sonning Tennis Club is a friendly village tennis club for players of all ages and abilities.
We are LTA-registered and located on the Berkshire & Oxford border in the village of Sonning near the river Thames. Established in 1946, our club welcomes players of all ages and abilities and provides lots of opportunities to take part in competitive and social tennis.
- Our courts were repainted and sealed in April 2021, blue courts green surrounds which are fantastic to play on!
- Group and individual coaching are available from our LTA accredited coach.
- We enter men’s, ladies and mixed teams into the Berkshire leagues and enjoy an active social calendar with events through the year.
- Regular club sessions are offered during the week and at weekends, which are open to all members and are a great way to meet other members. Potential new members are encouraged to come and join a club session to see if you would like to join us.

What we offer:
Club sessions – turn up and play with other members of all abilities. No need to book.
Club session times
- Saturday morning 10-12pm (Adults)
- Tuesday evenings 6pm-8.30pm, mid April to end September (Adults)
- Wednesday afternoon 1.30-4pm Adults (WAGS - Wednesday Afternoon Group)
(All 3 courts are reserved for the Club sessions during these hours)
Matches should be 5 games in length then rotated with waiting members
Initial order of play is determined by order of arrival and all matches should be played in a competitive but friendly spirit

Private Play - Use the booking system to reserve a court and play your own private matches whenever you would like.
Members can invite Guests along to play. Book via our court booking page - please refer to Policies page for conditions.
Coaching - see our coaching page for information on coaching with our LTA accredited Coach - Adults and juniors, individuals and groups
Ball Machine - use of the club's ball machine to aid individual practice (small usage fee applies per session)
Social events – a variety of activities throughout the year
Competitive Tennis
- Club Tournaments – for adults and juniors
- League matches – for those who wish to play competitive tennis with other clubs in Berkshire throughout the year. Summer & Winter league matches for Ladies, Mens and Mixed doubles teams
- Club championship each summer
