Lawn Tennis Club

About Us

Sonning Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1946 and is situated near the centre of the village in the eastern corner of King Georges Field between Pound Lane and Sonning Lane.

The club has 3 macadam hard courts and a small pavilion used primarily for shelter and the odd cup of tea. See the news page for the latest on our pavilion replacement project.

Club sessions run several times a week when all standards of players ‘mix-in’ for doubles play. New members are welcome at these sessions. League matches take place on Saturdays and Sundays but there is always a court left for free play. At other times courts are available to any members on a first come first served basis and there is rarely a wait for a court.

We hold social tournaments twice a year and other social events on an ad hoc basis.

Group coaching is available in Spring/Summer and is open to members and non-members. At other times, private individual or group coaching can be arranged.

We welcome players of all standards and accept new members throughout the season which runs from 1 April to 31 March. We are affiliated to the LTA and so receive an allocation of Wimbledon tickets for which we hold a members’ ballot. LTA rules mean that you must be a member of British Tennis in order to enter the ballot.
