2021 Club Championships
This year the club championships will run during June & July, with the Final being held on September 5th. All members can enter, it’s great fun and it’s all about the taking part. The tournaments are all based on knockout rounds, the categories are:
- Ladies Singles
- Ladies doubles
- Mens Singles
- Mens doubles
- Mixed doubles
- Juniors Loudwell cup will be played weekend 12/13 June as part of club’s 75 year celebrations
- Junior Championships for girls & boys will also be held. More details on this to follow.
Entry details and rules will be circulated nearer the time
American Tournament
Great fun to play in, normally with a club BBQ along side! Rules are simple enough, maximum of 12 ladies and 12 men are randomly picked into pairs. Pairs play against one another on a ’round robin’ basis with groups. Each match has 8 games, after first 4 games the partners swap and play another 4 games. Each player (not pairing) wins a point for every game won. The finalists are the 2 ladies and 2 men who have accumulated most points during the ’round robin’ matches. The man and woman getting most points in the final are declared champions and win a trophy that gets engraved with their names. This year the tournaments will be held on:
- Spring tournament Sunday 18th April
- Autumn tournament Sunday 12th September
Entry forms will be pinned up in the clubhouse nearer the time.
Round Robin tournament
Last year the club organised a ’round robin’ tournament for adult members to provide more organised tennis after COVID restrictions were lifted. This was well received so we’ve decided to run the event again this year. It also provides organised tennis in a period to the run up to Autumn and Winter when things start to ‘wind down!!’ The invites will go out in August and the groups will run throughout September & October with the finish and final at the end of October. Great fun and good opportunities to play first team players as all groups are mixed up!
